2/3 x 6 written as 2/3 x 6/1 multiple the numerators 2 x 6 = 12 multiply the denominators 3 x 1 = 3 numerator is 12 denominator is 3 written as 12/3 reduce the fraction by dividing 12 divided by 3 is 4 Therefore the answer is B
5/6 + 3/4 = find the common denominator 10/12 + 9/12 =19/12
Therefore the answer is D
3/8 + 1/8 = 4/8 Simplify to 1/2
1/2 + 1/8 = get common denominator 4/8 + 1/8 = 5/8
5/8 + 1/8 = 6/8 Simplify to 3/4
3/4 + 1/8 = common denominator 6/8 + 1/8 = 7/8
D
Set up the problem like a fraction Part/Whole
182 divided by 365
B
Set up the problem like a fraction Part/Whole
35 divided by 60
C
10/2 is 12 units assembled 10/3 is 15 units assembled
15/12 15 divided by 12 is 1.25 So 15 is 125 % of 12 The question is asking what percent more than 12 25% more than 12
D
Day 1 Simon convinces 10 people. Day 2 those 10 people convince 10 people each. 10 x 10 = 100
Day 3 those 100 people convince 10 people each. 100 x 10 = 1,000
Day 4 those 1000 people convince 10 people each. 1000 x 10 = 10,000
Day 5 those 10,000 people convinced 10 people each. 10,000 x 10 = 100,000
D
Down payment of 187.00 30 monthly payments of 37.88 multiply the payments by the number of months 30 x 37.88 = 1,136.40 Now add the down payment of 187.00 1,136.40 + 187.00 = 1,323.40
Therefore the answer is D
There are so many bottles of juice in the refrigerator. They are as follows: apple juice - 2 orange juice - 6 tomato juice - 3 ice tea - 8 Add the total number of bottles of juice. 2 + 6 + 3 + 8 = 19 total bottles of juice. This is considered the whole of this problem so you want to put this number in the denominator. Part/Whole Part/19 The question asked what was the probability that the drink wasn't an ice tea. Add the bottles of juice that are not ice tea. 2 + 6 + 3 = 11 bottles of juice that is not ice tea. This is the number that goes into the numerator of our fraction. 11/19 Therefore the answer is B.
Again, think of Part/Whole What is the whole of this question? Part/100 How many workers are in Bill's department? There are six workers in Bill's department. This is the number you will put in the numerator. 6/100
Therefore the answer is B.
The information you need from this question is how many people play the different types of instruments.
Flutes - 10% of 40 people Trumpets - 15% of 40 people Clarinets - 10% of 40 people Saxophones - 45% of 40 people Drums - 20% of 40 people We want to know how many people played either trumpets or clarinets. 15% played trumpets and 10% played clarinets. Let's add those two totals 15 + 10 = 25% 25/100 = x/40 Cross multiply: 100 times x = 40 times 25 100x = 1000 Divide both sides by 100 x = 10
